My name is David. e Arc Thrift Store was my first job after I was done with college. What I liked about Arc Thrift
stores is that they represent, support, and provide for people with
developmental disabilities such as myself. I'm hearing impaired, and
socially awkward. I have
graduated from Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in December
of 2010. I attained a Bachelor's Degree of Fine Arts in Illustration
specializing in children's books. I have become an artist to make
this world a better place by making it colorful. With my art I contribute to the community and people with disabilities. I proposed to paint murals in the squares of the ten planters that surrounded the Arc Thrift Store and a 24hour fitness as you may see in the pictures. In 2015 I started to paint the murals.
The paintings represent power,
innovation, knowledge, change, window to other worlds, persistence,
movement, energy, creativity, strength, durability, imagination,
exploration, and vision. As I was painting, some people would tall me that my paintings looked like planets and cosmos. I was satisfied to hear that as an artist because with most of my art I want to show the vastness of the universe and other world. I used Home Depot BEHR Outdoor paints
for the murals. I also used Acrylics that I mixed with home depot
paints to achieve the desired colors. To seal the murals I used three
coats of Crystal Clear Acrylic Coating and seal paint finish. The murals can still be found there on the planters reminding the public of the vibrant and vast worlds that lay beyond.
